The Howard School Sport Partnership

Welcome to the Howard School Sport Partnership which is a collection of schools (in Rainham, Gillingham, Strood and the rural area of Medway - Kent) working together in families to share resources, facilities, teaching and coaching expertise and an infrastructure of staff.

The ultimate vision is that:

"The Howard School Sports Partnership (covering all schools in Gillingham, Rainham, Strood and the rural area of Medway) commits to provide an efficient, high quality and school needs led service, we will continue to enable young people to become the best they can be through the medium of physical activity, physical education and sport."

Currently in spring 2020 we have 31 primary schools in the HSSP area currently buying into our school sport services for 2020-2021 academic year. For further details on the menu of packages and services available to Primary Schools, delivered by our School Sport Co-ordinators (SSCo’s released from their secondary P.E. Dept.) Please see: DRAFT Menu of HSSP School Sport Services and Products 2020 - 2021 with discounts for 2019-2020 lack of service. As well as these services we can accommodate bespoke school sport packages after discussions with individual Primary Schools. As a result of the national COVID-19 pandemic the decision was made by the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England to pause the 2020 School Games Mark; as a result schools will retain their 2019 School Games Mark Award.
We at the HSSP have been provided with national 2019-20 School Games Recognition digital badges and certificates to award to schools that have continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to the School Games programme during this academic year. To apply for the 2019-20 School Games Recognition please complete the application form and send (with accompanying evidence) to Claire Moore email:
The application window opens on Wednesday 10 June and will close on Wednesday 15 July 2020.

Due to the C-19 virus and the World Pandemic we are unable to organise and host HSSP and Medway Inter-School Sports Competitions and Festivals locally, due to social distancing.
So instead we have worked closely with Kent Schools Games staff and all School Games Organisers (SGO’s) across the county to encourage and enable Teachers to run their own Intra-School Sports/physical activity challenges (following the KSGames and HSSP event spec. and rules) at their school so that their pupils can still take part in an Intra-School Sports Competitions/the School Games competing against individuals/classes or houses. This helps to meet some of the criteria in the national School Games Mark Award.

Once the Teacher has completed their Intra-School Sports Competition and they wish to take part in the Virtual HSSP/Medway Competition then they submit their results to the event organiser and their top scoring pupils results will be added to all entered school results and each school team will be given a final position across the HSSP area/Medway area as a whole and some top performing schools will receive medals for the top three teams and a chance to attend a county finals. Participation certificates will also be given to limited numbers of school teams who entered the Virtual Competitions.
